Oscar-Winning Producer Brian Grazer Sells Malibu Compound

“A Beautiful Mind” producer Brian Grazer has scored a beautiful sale of his home in Malibu.

The Academy Award-winning filmmaker and television producer has sold his compound in the Malibu Colony. The Los Angeles Times reports that Grazer pocketed $17.375 million for the Mediterranean-style home, making it the second-most-expensive sale in the Malibu area in 2014.

Built in 1995, the beachfront home has five bedrooms, eight bathrooms and nearly 6,100 square feet spread across three floors. Highlights include an eat-in kitchen, an elevator, an indoor pool, a beach bathroom and a master suite spanning two floors. Outside, a water-facing patio is said to double as a “gymnasium studio.”

Grazer first began shopping the home in May 2013 for $19.5 million, but dropped the price to $18.95 million later that year. He originally purchased the oceanfront property in 2003 for $13.5 million.

A Los Angeles native, Grazer co-founded Imagine Entertainment with Ron Howard in 1986. His many films, which have grossed $13.5 billion, include the blockbusters “Backdraft,” “Apollo 13,” “A Beautiful Mind” and “Rush.” Grazer has also dabbled in television, laying the groundwork for such shows as “Arrested Development,” “24” and “Friday Night Lights.”

Stephen Shapiro of Westside Estate Agency was the listing agent. Cristie St. James of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices and Chad Rogers of Hilton & Hyland represented the buyer.
