Ryan Seacrest buys Ellen DeGeneres’ $49 million Beverly Hills home

Ryan Seacrest is buying Ellen DeGeneres’ Beverly Hills home, which was on sale for $49 million. The property in Beverly Hils covers an entire block and takes up almost three acres. The estate includes a 9,200-square-foot main home, three guest houses and a koi pond and pool. Could it be that he’s moving in with girlfriend, Julianne Hough?

The “Idol” host and Dunwoody High School graduate Ryan Seacrest is movin’ on up. he has recently listed for sale his Hollywood Hills Mediterranean estate which has a whooping 10,000 square feet and sits on a gated acre. He bought the place in 2006 from actor Kevin Costner for $11.5 million. Seacrest remodeled it and the villa now has beamed ceilings, a screening room, guesthouse, pool and tennis court.

You don’t often hear of Hollywood starlets making prudent financial decisions. Well..a 25 year old actress, best knows fro her role as ambitious high school singer Rachel Berry, reportedly earns about $40,000 per episode on the Fox hit show Glee. But instead of a mansion, she bought a cute 2 bedroom 2 bathroom bungalow for $1.4 million in a celebrity-friendly area of Hollywood, known as Sunset Square. In regards to selling her Bel Air, CA home, actress Meg Ryan is taking the old adage ‘if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again’ to heart. The celebrated film star is taking another stab at offloading the 6,877-square-foot Spanish-styled estate, listing the property for $11.4 million – or nearly $3 million less than she attempted to sell it for when it was last on the open market.
In 2010, Ryan was attempting to lease the six bedroom, seven bathroom home to the tune of $40,000-a-month, and allegedly found a willing renter in fellow thespian Diane Keaton, who not only rented the home, but also upgraded in in 2011. However, it appears Keaton’s stay has run its course and Ryan is again looking to sell.

Ryan’s abode is among good company with the celebrity homes of such stars as Clint Eastwood and Robert Redford found nearby. The property, built in 1931, is set high on a ¾-acre promontory in Bel Air, allowing for views that stretch from the canyons to the city and further to the ocean. Highlights of the home include stenciled and painted wood ceilings, custom ironwork, hardwood floors and vaulted archways throughout, while luxury amenities range from a loggia-covered dining pavilion to a private screening room and separate bar room. Also found on Ryan’s estate is a complete guest house.
Ryan’s start in show business came in the early 1980’s as a member of the cast of the CBS soap opera “As The World Turns.” She would go on to enjoy a highly successful film career, which included prominent roles in celebrated romantic comedies like “When Harry Met Sally…,” “Sleepless in Seattle” and “You’ve Got Mail.” Most recently, Ryan starred alongside Kat Dennings, John Lithgow, Joe Anderson and rapper 50 Cent in the upcoming Chris Rossi-directed drama flick, “Lives of the Saints.

From the beach to Beverly Hills, a surging stock market and lower prices have inflamed bidding wars, revitalized sales and sparked activity not seen in years.

To get a sense of the state of the high-end housing market on the Westside, consider the fevered recent sale of an A. Quincy Jones-designed residence in Beverly Hills. The five-bedroom post-and-beam Modernist property hit the market March 7 at $6.499 million. It immediately attracted seven offers and was under contract eight days later at $6.625 million. The deal wrapped up March 20, with architectural property collector and producer Michael LaFetra (Night Train, Kevorkian) acquiring the North Foothill Road residence. Such aggressive sales processes have been nearly nonexistent during the past half-decade or so, when the market crashed during the economic meltdown and then floundered. “It’s probably been four years since we’ve had seven offers on one property — we are no longer bumping along the bottom,” says Prudential California Realty’s Cristie St. James, who along with husband Markus Canter represented the seller, a local businessman.
